We Embraced Every Moment at the 2020 SF Chronicle Public Wine Tasting! With over 1,000 wineries and thousands of wine lovers in attendance, it is honestly a very exciting, yet overwhelming feeling. On the 20th Anniversary of the largest competition of North American Wines, we were elated to showcase two double gold and four gold medal award winning wines…and even more excited to welcome a number of new wine club members to our family!

#2. The Parrot Reunion

There is a man who attends the public tasting every year with a parrot on his shoulder.  Annie laughed and said she hoped she would see the parrot again… and then all of a sudden there he was!  She put this parrot on her shoulder last year and so it was like a reunion. 

#3. We were spotted by friends we made in Santa Barbara!

After a full day of pouring at the SF Chronicle Public Tasting, we went to a restaurant on Pier 39 to celebrate. Some friends we made at the Santa Barbara Food & Wine Festival last year spotted us by the bar and we were delighted to catch up.

Vineyard Update: Pruning Time!

✨Vineyard Update: Our vines are getting the spa treatment to rejuvenate! Although the vineyard is dormant this time of year, it is a vital time for them to recharge before the next growing season that is soon to come!

The winter months are the most ideal time for the vines to be pruned. Check out our video below, where Ruben is pruning today to remove the old wood to make room for new growth in the Spring. 🌱

This labor intensive process is critical to the health of the vineyard & preparation for the new fruit in the coming months! 🍇

Shrimply Delicious Pairing with our 2018 Chenin Blanc

We are loving our winter garden! It makes me so happy to walk outside my door and pick the freshest greens for a garden salad to compliment a delicious bottle of wine. 

Looking for an easy dinner idea? Gather some greens and throw some shrimp and veggies together! My dressing of choice to pair with this 2018 Chenin Blanc includes olive oil, fresh squeezed lemon, garlic, shallots, salt, peper, and a touch of Dijon Mustard.

French Provincial style Rosé with a bouquet of floral notes on the nose, flavors of fresh strawberry, honey drenched apricot, and candied orange guava. Smooth and refreshing finish. Lodi Rules Certified Green.

The results are in and we couldn't be happier! Over 65 judges evaluated nearly 6,700 wines from over 1,000 wineries for the 2020 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. At the largest wine competition in North America, we are proud to take home DOUBLE GOLD for 2 of our wines and GOLD for 4 of our wines! 

Double Gold medals are only awarded when all five members of a judging panel unanimously award a wine with a Gold medal.

Double Gold - 2016 Petite Sirah

Deep, dark, rich velvet color and delicious flavors of ripe blackberry and juicy plum. Full bodied and well balanced, with a firm backbone of tannins and a long finish. Estate Grown in Lodi, California and made of 100% hand picked Petite Sirah grapes. This wine is aged for 24 months in once used French Oak Barrels.    

Double Gold - 2018 Unoaked Chardonnay

Refreshing and lively blend of light citrus and savory ripe pear, with a richness that is dry and a crisp, vibrant finish. Medium to light body with moderate complexity. Estate Grown and hand picked, made with minimal intervention. Produced in 100% stainless steel.

 

Gold - 2016 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon

Deep ruby in color with exciting aromatic flavors of ripe blackberry, cigar humidor, cocoa and a hint of earthiness. Full bodied on entry with dark cherry, luscious plum, black currants and a touch of mocha on the palate. Hand picked from Napa Valley, California. Released to enjoy now or cellar to indulge for years to come. 34 cases produced.

 

Gold - 2018 Chenin Blanc

Rustic pear crostata, honeysuckle, and pineapple. Perfectly balanced, medium bodied, and off-dry. Handpicked from the rich soils of Clarksburg, California. 

 

Gold - 2018 Rosé of Pinotage

Bright and precisely dry. Violet notes on the nose, cherry on the palate and a touch of earth. Typically found in South Africa, this amazing rosé is hand picked and grown in the rich soils of Lodi, California.

 

Gold - 2018 Sauvignon Blanc

Herbaceous flavors with subtle hints of freshly cut wild grass, basil, pomelo, ripe grapefruit kissed by glistening morning dew with a hint of pineapple as it lingers in the glass. Crisp acidity with a dusty minerality and a vibrant long balanced finish. Estate-grown and hand picked, this Sauvignon Blanc is a Musqué Clone produced with minimal intervention.

Pilates & Pancakes 2019

What a way to celebrate our passion for farming on National Farmers Day! We hosted 40 participants at our first annual Pilates & Pancakes event on Saturday, October 12, 2019 and announced the release of our 2018 Sparkling Rosé, made with handpicked and sustainably farmed grapes. Thank you Nancy Tenoglio (Park West Pilates) for leading our pilates in the vineyards class!

Pinot & Polenta Winemaker's Dinner 2019

Thank you to everyone that made our 2019 Pinot & Polenta Winemaker's Dinner an overwhelming success! We greeted our guests with a glass of our 2019 Sparkling Rosé with a beautiful appetizer spread.

We put our dinner table outdoors, with a beautiful view of our vineyards, perfect for this time of year. The main dish was a creamy style polenta served with a savory sauce, organic greens, and an assortment of breads. It paired beautifully with our GOLD award winning 2016 Pinot Noir! For dessert, we dished out mini tiramisu cakes, mini limoncello cakes, and double chocolate cakes paired with our brand new surprise release of the Intercoastal Vineyards Dolce Blanc dessert Wine!

We love sharing good food and great wine with our guests, friends, and wine club members. Staying true to Mitch's Italian heritage, wine is food! That's why we make 'em with single vineyard, estate-grown, handpicked grapes.
